2012 IWLCA National Players of the Year

(Liza, Liz and Hannah Church from Gettysburg at All-American Banquet)

Congrats to Liza Beckler and Liz Bruno for earning National Player of the Year recognition in their respective positions by the IWLCA.  Liza was named Defender of the year and Liz was named Midfielder of the year!  Way to go!

Beckler, a senior, was selected as an All-American for the second season in a row after leading the Bantams to their first national title. In five NCAA Tournament games this spring, Trinity's defense held its opponents to 22 goals and 37 shots on goal, largely due to Beckler active presence in the middle of the Bantam zone defense.  Totaling 36 ground balls and 26 caused turnovers this spring, Beckler helped Trinity go undefeated in the postseason.

Bruno, a unanimous selection as NESCAC Player of the Year, became a four-time All-American in 2012. The NCAA Final Four's Most Outstanding Performer, Bruno led the Bantams in assists (30), ground balls (61), and caused turnovers (55) to go with 27 goals and 51 draw controls this spring.  Her combination of size, speed, stick skills, and leadership abilities gave Trinity both a lethal offensive and defensive weapon.

The Boston Red Sox honored our 2012 National Champion squad by announcing us before their game against the Tigers last night.  On 48 hours notice, we were able to rally 20 of 23 team members and most of the coaching staff to represent Trinity Lacrosse at Fenway!  It was thrilling!  What a great way to cap off our championship run!  Have a great summer everyone!

Trinity Women's Lacrosse Heads to the Final Four for the First Time in Program History

Trinity won the second and third round NCAA games to advance to Montclair St. for the Division III Women's Lacrosse National Championships.

On Saturday Trinity defeated Buffalo State University 17-6 and then played NESCAC rivals, Colby College, for the Elite Eight on Sunday. Trinity controlled the momentum the entire game against Colby and ended the game with the ball in their sticks.

Trinity 7    Colby 5

Most Memorable Moments: Two caused turnovers by our low defenders that allowed Trinity to have the ball back late in the second half. Sophomore, Midge Daniel, caused a momentum crushing turnover when she knocked down a Colby pass, and with less than three minutes left, Liza Beckler intercepted the ball, came up with the ground ball, and ended Colby's hopes for a comeback.
